Hackathon 'The Future of Food'

Forty International Business students from Erasmus University Rotterdam (RSM) put their teeth into a number of research questions put forward by horticultural companies during a virtual hackathon. 

. The students were challenged to think about ‘The Future of Food’ and its implications for the sector. The topics the students examined included possible revenue models for marketing Dutch horticultural know-how, the future of vertical farming, the consequences of digitisation and digital transformation for the sector and new ideas to help explain the importance of horticulture to society.

The hackathon was concluded with a number of presentations, in which students shared their findings and tested their recommendations with the requesting companies directly. This led to stimulating discussions that left all participants with a taste for more!
