Jiffy is a leading global supplier of premium growing media and solution thinking. We aim to serve our customers in plant propagation and cultivation to achieve maximum results. Founded in the early 1950s, Jiffy began its journey by introducing the innovative Jiffy Pot. This compostable container gained widespread success in the US and European markets and has great success in commercial and retail markets. Since then, Jiffy has expanded its product portfolio, including the Jiffy Pots, Jiffy Pellets, Jiffy Growbags, Jiffy Growblocks, Jiffy Preforma plugs, as well as Jiffy loosefill substrates. We work from several global locations, including the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Spain, the US, Canada, Sri Lanka, and Japan.

“We can only make a difference and improve food security, our health, and the sustainability of the food system if we do so together with others.”

Product customization

Growing media used to be comprised of a few options that worked well across a broad range of crops, but now we see customers needing specific materials, of a specific size, with particular physical and chemical properties, and able to be used in highly automated systems. Jiffy has focused on serving our customers with this type of customization to ensure we can meet a grower’s production needs. Selecting a growing media today is a lot like purchasing a new car, where a grower can be involved in many of the design decisions. From selecting specific substrate fibres down to pH and EC levels, we can give customers a better product and experience to ensure the success of their production.

Focus on sustainability

At Jiffy, they are committed to providing growers with the best possible tools and solutions to produce healthy, high-quality crops sustainably. We understand the growing demand for peat-free alternatives, and we are proud to offer a wide range of peat-free and peat-reduced products that meet the needs of growers across a variety of crops, from bedding plants and shrubs to forestry and leafy greens.

Furthermore, the Jiffy 7 Pellets have been reproduced using a poly lactic acid (PLA) netting that has replaced the prior plastic netting and is now industrially compostable. In addition, our grow bags are now made with 20% recycled plastic. These are examples of how sustainability is becoming a critical part of product innovation as we look to produce more plants with less environmental impact.

Knowledge-sharing mindset

New technologies are essential if we want to keep producing enough healthy food with the lowest possible footprint. By joining forces with other companies at I-Grow and sharing knowledge, we help growers and propagators improve their yield. This contributes to keeping high-quality fruit and vegetables available locally around the world and perfectly matches Jiffy’s commitment to sustainability and quality along with a knowledge-sharing mindset.
