The impact of Brexit on the horticultural sector

Prepare yourself for all scenarios, that was the experts' conclusion during the webinar: Brexit

On 29 October, the Rabobank and World Horti Center organised the webinar: 'Brexit, have we prepared well?'

The large turnout and the number of questions that were raised indicate that the sector still has a lot of questions about the upcoming measures and the consequences of a deal or a no deal.

Experts from Rabobank, the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers (VNO-NCW), Royal FloraHolland, Fresh Produce Centre in the Netherlands and Fresh Produce Consortium in the UK informed us about the impact of Brexit on the horticultural sector and shared valuable tips.
They stressed the importance of preparing for all scenarios. Working together and raising questions with your sector organisations are part of this. Because one thing is certain, a lot will change.

Suse van Kleef closed the meeting with these words: "There are still a lot of challenges for the sector, and it is difficult to prepare yourself for a situation that is still unknown. I expect that there will be more clarity within 2 to 3 weeks. The endgame has begun; it seems that the negotiations based on legal texts have started. But things can still go wrong because the parties are not only negotiating with each other but also with their own supporters. It can still go either way".

The fact that there will be a follow-up is certain. As soon as we know whether there will be a deal or a no-deal Brexit, World Horti Center will organise an (international) webinar with the facts that we know then. We will keep you informed about this.
