Dutch Lion

Dutch Lion AgTech Solutions develops and delivers the Moving Tower System (MTSys), a patented vertical growing system for greenhouses and indoor farms. The company was founded in 2019 in the Westland region of the Netherlands, built on four generations of greenhouse experience.

Growers run into two limits: space and cost price. Expanding is often not an option, and margins per kilo keep tightening. Vertical farming promised a way out, but for many companies it collapsed under high investment and energy costs. Dutch Lion takes a hybrid approach instead. MTSys moves cultivation upward inside the greenhouse, keeping sunlight as the primary light source and adding LED only when the crop actually needs it.

The towers move automatically through the system and are spaced according to crop size, so every square meter stays productive. The result is a 90 percent smaller growing footprint, 40 percent lower CAPEX and 20 percent lower crop costs.

The design is deliberately mechanical and simple, with no proprietary software or complex robotics. That keeps maintenance predictable and the entry barrier low. Our first project runs at Vertify in the World Horti Center, our first US project is in Wyoming. The system scales from small to large commercial facilities.
