Koppert Cress
Koppert Cress is constantly looking for natural, innovative ingredients that chefs can use to intensify the taste, aroma and presentations of their dishes. Products, which meet the increasingly stringent requirements of restaurants worldwide. Cresses are freshly germinated plants of 100% natural, aromatic plants. These plants both have a freshness and intensity in taste and smell that is only found in young plants.
The success of Koppert Cress is completely dependent on the recognition and acceptance by the professional user. Taste is a prerequisite in this. But there is more than taste. As a family business you are busy in the long term. Rob Baan succeeds in looking over the horizon. He realized at an early stage that healthy food is going to play an increasingly important role and that we will increasingly focus on it. The company has opted for “Good nutrition is crucial for a healthy life”.
Sustainability in the broadest sense is absolutely essential within this family business. Koppert Cress is designed to operate in an energy-friendly way. They opted for LED lighting, energy management through underground heat storage, solar collectors and geothermal energy.
The way in which the company deals with the staff also fits into the sustainable category. They deploy numerous initiatives to improve working conditions and make them more enjoyable. The most appealing example of this is probably the company restaurant Rob & Bob. Here, the employees are offered a responsible lunch every day, which contains at least half of the 250g of vegetables you need per day.
Koppert Cress fully supports the principles of Dutch Cuisine: Culture, Healthy, Nature, Quality and Value. “80-20”, where 80% vegetables and 20% meat is used. But also 80% season and 20% from far. Dutch Cuisine uses what nature offers, without artificial additives, from head to tail. Realizing that what we have is a gift from the previous generation and on loan from the next.
